Golden Quest Discovery Trail

Your chance to explore the Outback

The Golden Quest Discovery Trail was launched in March 2003. It is a social and economic development initiative with a tourism focus, providing ongoing benefits to the communities and the Goldfields and Western Australia.

Now is the time to plan your journey on the Golden Quest Discovery Trail. Visitors to Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields can undertake their own 'Golden Quest', navigating a 965km drive trail that traces the gold-rushes of the 1890s and explores their impact.

Encompassing Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie-Boulder, extending north to Menzies, Kookynie, Gwalia, Leonora and Laverton, the Trail represents a journey through a landscape resonant with the ghosts and stories of the past. It's a journey rich with architectural and engineering gems, natural history, Aboriginal history and a host of remarkable characters.

But the Trail isn't simply a journey through the past. The issues of the 'here and now' are evident too. The 'Golden Quest' of the 21st century embraces several vital contemporary challenges and quests.

A surprisingly emotional and sensory outback adventure, the 'Golden Quest' Discovery Trail will ignite your imagination and deepen your appreciation of one of the world's most distinctive travel destinations.

Bring along your sense of humour and spirit of adventure… and enjoy the Golden Quest Discovery Trail.

The Goldfields welcomes you!
