The town of Menzies sprang up after the gold find in 1894. It is true historic goldfields town with a number of fine stone buildings that remain standing. Amongst the many attractions visitors can spend some time in the Menzies Visitor Centre viewing past history and photgraphs and a fabulous small Indigenous Art exhibit from the Spinifex People. Menzies is the gateway to Lake Ballard and the "Inside Australia" Exhibition, where 51 metal statues have been placed in the salt lake by renowned sculptor Antony Gormley in 2003.
