Western Australia's Goldfields and deserts are places of surprising contrasts, where first impressions can be deceptive. In the middle of flat expanses of land visitors may stumble across granite outcrops, salt lakes and spectacular "breakaways". Depending on the appropriate seasonal rains the visitor can also be pleasantly surprised to find diverse plant and animal life in particular wildflowers.
Western Australia's wildflower season traditionally ranges from late July through to October. The Goldfields can feature an abundance of flowers or a few scant pickings depending upon the rains and other seasonal factors. When the conditions are right visitors may find flowering wattles and acacias, eremophilas, eucalypts, hovea and salt bush just to name a few common varieties.
We urge visitors to check with the local Visitor Centres around the Trail as to prime locations of any flowerings and to do the Trail and enjoy the flowers as they find them. The Trail Manager may also be able to assist with any enquiries. Email: info@goldenquesttrail.com and Mobile: 0408 511 969.
